Stay Certified

Congratulations!  You've achieved something that relatively few have accomplished... you've become certified!  You are now an “active certified member”, which means you are both certified AND actively participating in the professional activities of your organization. To maintain your "active certified member" status simply:
  • Pay annual fee
  • Comply with the Certification Continuation Program (CCP) every three years
  • Abide by the AMT Standards of Practice
All AMT certified members are required to pay an annual fee in order to keep their status active. This fee also helps to defray the costs of other professional benefits that members enjoy throughout the year. (Member Benefits)

When you receive your annual notification, pay for your invoice one of several ways:

  • Pay Renewal Fee Login to your secure section of the AMT website, and from your member’s homepage pay your invoice directly online.
  • Pay by Mail: Pay by check, money order or your credit card and mail it directly to AMT.
Note: Failing to pay your annual fee will result in a loss of your member benefits and could result in a loss of your certification.

Once your annual payment is processed, you can access your digital card via "My Homepage". Member benefits are immediately available, and therefore the annual fee is not refundable.

As a certification agency, it is our responsibility to solicit and obtain from our certificants valid documentation that demonstrates that you continue to maintain current competency for as long as you are working in your professional field.

AMT achieves this goal through the Certification Continuation Program (CCP). CCP requires AMT certified members to document activities supporting continuation of AMT certification every three years.

Who is Required to Comply with CCP?
  1. Individuals initially certified on or after January 1, 2006 are required to comply with CCP every three years.
  2. Individuals certified prior to January 1, 2006 (excluding individuals listed above) are NOT required to participate as credentials were initially issued without a specified time limitation. However, AMT strongly encourages all members to keep abreast in their field through continuing education and other professional activities. Individuals who remain active members retain the terms in force at the time of certification. Note: Individuals originally certified prior to Jan 1, 2006, who have let their active membership lapse longer than three years, will have to reactivate and will then be subject to the three year CCP cycle.

What Are the Point Requirements?
Depending on the certification, a member will be required to obtain a certain number of points over a three-year period:

    Special Notes for Recertification/Reactivation:

You must meet current eligibility requirements. For MTs, that now includes a baccalaureate degree.

If your certification has lapsed longer than 10 years, you may ONLY recertify/reactivate via examination.

If your certification has lapsed longer than 5 years, but less than 10, you will follow the same requirements listed above AND will ensure that your documented CE activities INCLUDE at least one of the following:
