Greetings,
Welcome to American Medical Technologists 81st Annual Educational Program and National
Meeting in the “Windy City” of Chicago. It is a joy to welcome each and every one of you. AMT is
member led and the meeting gives you, the members, the opportunity to help direct the future
of your organization. What an exciting time to be part of this organization. We continue to be
fiscally sound and our member certifications continue to grow.
This week will bring many avenues for participation. I encourage you all to take full advantage
of the activities. There will be general sessions designed for any certification; there will be
“tracks” that are labeled according to discipline, and leadership development sessions to develop
leadership skills for work or your AMT involvement. These sessions may help take you outside Jeannie Hobson, RMA,
your comfort zone and provide additional learning in a new discipline. In addition, there will RPT, AHI, CMAS (AMT)
be two 3-hour workshops, one for the MT discipline and one for the RMA discipline. Breakout President
sessions will be Monday – Wednesday.

Thursday is when we get to the business of AMT. This is your opportunity to learn more about the organization and to
participate in the business of helping set the future direction of AMT. The town hall session on Thursday morning allows
for open dialog with your board of directors. The afternoon session is the more formal session which includes the election
of board members. Be part of the process.
This year there will be Friday leadership sessions designed by our hard-working District Councillors. Your state board
members should attend these sessions. I would also encourage all of you to attend; you are all potential leaders in your
             state societies and national committees.
The National Meeting is a time to renew old friendships and make new ones. To do some networking and just to have
some fun. A couple of key events to help us in this endeavor are the Welcome Party on Monday evening and the Awards
Banquet and Convocation on Tuesday evening. On Thursday evening all are invited to the President’s Suite for the Sweet
Suite Reception! Come and enjoy some desserts and visit with new and old friends.
The Mentor desk is there in case you find yourself lost or looking for a particular room. AMT Mentors are long time
members that have been to many meetings and understand how to navigate the meeting as well how AMT inner workings
are done. Any board member is also available for questions — you can identify us by the ribbons on our name tags.
Chicago offers many opportunities to enjoy the city. Our hotel is located close to all the world-renowned museums, close
to Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and the Magnificent Mile. Remember to enjoy all Chicago has to offer. Don’t forget we will
be here during our nation’s birthday — the 4th of July. Fireworks are from the Navy Pier area and the best way to see them
is to be outside. You should be able to get a view from Millennium Park.
Thank you for attending our meeting this year. Each person attending brings their own knowledge and experiences which
adds to the whole making AMT The Choice for Allied Health Professional Certification. AMT’s unique and greatest assets
are our members. Be proud of your certification and being a member of AMT. It is through you that AMT succeeds. Have
             a wonderful week.
