President's Message

Welcome to the New Mexico State Society AMT website! We try to keep the information here as updated as possible.

A few dates to remember for next year…..

We would like to recognize all the Phlebotomists for their hard work. Drawing blood is an art form. Your Recognition Week, titled “Drawn to Help Others”, is February 12 -16, 2024. Say a great big thank you to them.

We have our spring meeting tentatively scheduled for April 20, 2024, and our Fall meeting for October 19, 2024. Both are scheduled at the Pima Medical Institute in Albuquerque. During the National Business meeting the updated AMT bylaws were approved resulting in state societies updating theirs. You will receive our proposed bylaws for review next year in time for concerns and/or comments to be made. During our spring meeting, we will be voting on updated bylaws for the State Society.

The 2024 Annual Meeting is scheduled for July 8 -12, 2024 in Saint Louis, Missouri. During this time, you could obtain all your credit hours for the entire year. It is also a time to make new friends or renew old ones.

During this year’s Business meeting, we elected four new or incumbent members to the Board of Directors. They are Cherry-Ann DaCosta-Carter, Jill Carlson, Sandra Jones, and Jeffrey Wooley. The following members were selected as officers on the Board. They are Marty Hinkel – President; Harry Narine – Vice-President; Cherry-Ann DaCosta-Carter – Secretary; and Fran Oran – Treasurer.

I would like to thank our speakers during the fall meeting. We received four credit hours of continuing education, all thanks to their support. I would also like to thank Pima Medical Institute and instructor Lisa Gabaldon for their support in organizing our state society meetings. It is with her help we have a location to hold our meetings.

I look forward to hearing from our members and if you have any suggestions on improving our society, please let me know. Hope to see you at our meetings.
