Hello AMT Members and Students,
The Conference was held in Chicago this over the 4th of July. I did not attend, but wished I had. Our Vice-President/Editor served as our delegate representing Utah. He received the Exceptional Merit Award and Third Place for our newsletter publication, “Utah Pacemaker.” Congratulations Dr. Henry Oh, MT, AHI, (AMT) on an awesome job.
Our AMT’s 82nd Educational Program and National Meeting will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This will be from July 13 - 16, 2020. Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency.
We had the Seminar on September 28, 2019. Our speakers were Max Eskelson, MS, RRT, Assistant Professor at Utah Valley University, who presented his topic on “Improving Inter-professional Collaboration in Patient Care.” Eugene Demekhin, BBA, AHI(AMT), RRT, talked on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Dr. Henry Oh, MT (AMT)AHI, presented his topics on “The Basics of Blood Gas Interpretation” and “Introduction to the Flipped Classroom and Competency-Based Education in Health Science.” We had great speakers and everyone enjoyed learning what was new in these professions.
We will be having our Spring Seminar in Las Vegas, NV. More information will be provided later on our AMT State Society website. This is still being worked out at this time. If you are interested in serving as a member on the Board of Directors for UTSSAMT, also contact me.

Message from the Editor
I’d like to thank our AMT members who attended the Fall Meeting on September 28, 2019. I also would like to thank Max Eskelson and Eugene Demekhin who served as our speakers at the seminar. Many thanks to the LDS Business College for offering us their auditorium as the venue for our state society meeting.
This Fall issue of the Utah Pacemaker newsletter features on the cover all the speakers who volunteered their time and participation during the 2018 and 2019 Fall and Spring meetings.
I attended the AMT Educational Program and National Meeting held at Hilton Chicago on July 1-4, 2019. It was great meeting old and new colleagues and friends. The winner of the state gift basket was Amber Tibbits from Wyoming. Michelle Jenkins and I represented Utah delegates at the AMT Business Meeting. I received the Exceptional Merit Award and Third Place Editor for our Newsletter at the AMT Awards Banquet on July 2, 2019.
We have a new state society secretary, Brandi Halladay, RMA(AMT), who volunteered to serve in this capacity.
Several members, including myself, are planning to attend the next AMT National Meeting in Albuquerque, NM on July 13 - 16, 2020.
Many thanks to all of you.
