CMS Reminder: The Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Continues Through 2021

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) sent a reminder to eligible professionals (EPs) who participate in the Medicaid EHR incentive program that they must continue to attest to either Modified Stage 2 or Stage 3 meaningful use criteria, including the “credentialed medical assistant” requirement for CPOE order entry.

Apparently 2016 was the last year an EP could begin participation in the Medicaid incentive program; however, for those now in the program, it continues through 2021. EPs who participate in both the Medicaid and Medicare MIPS programs must separately attest to both sets of standards.
