If you are planning to take the exam at a Pearson VUE testing center, you will schedule your own exam once you receive an official letter from AMT with instructions on how to proceed.
You will need to bring the following to the exam site (either your school or Pearson VUE):
When you take your exam online at either an approved school testing site or a Pearson VUE testing site, you will know your score immediately. This score is transmitted to AMT within 24 – 48 hours. If it is a passing score, you will receive in the mail, in 7-14 days, a new member packet with your official certificate and information on how to maintain your certification. You will also be able to download your digital membership card from “My Homepage”. However, if your application is still awaiting any documents, the new member packet and certificate and digital card will not be available until all documentation is received, reviewed and processed to ensure your application is complete. Please note that you are not considered certified until you receive official documentation from AMT. If you receive a failing score, please follow the retesting procedures listed below under "Retesting Information". Once certified, you will be asked to pay a nominal fee in order to keep your certification and membership current. Every three years you will be required, through the Certification Continuation Program (CCP), to submit an attestation that you have acquired a specific number of continuing education credits relevant to your certification specialty.

Examination Retake Form (Download) Because performance is evaluated with respect to all content areas, failing candidates who choose to retake the test are required to retake the entire examination. Candidates can retake the examination three additional times after the first failure, up to a total of four (4) times, for that certification. After failing any test, it is recommended that candidates study all areas in which mastery of the material was not achieved (as indicated on a failing score report) before reattempting a test. Applicants are limited to a lifetime of four examination attempts for any one AMT certification. Consult the Prepare for Exam Resources to prepare for your examination retake Note: If your application has expired during the course of retesting, you may need to submit a new application, and pay the appropriate application fee, in order to continue the retesting process. If that is the case, an additional retesting fee would not be necessary.
