I hope everyone is doing well. It has been a busy year so far. We started planning the Carolinas Clinical Connection during the last few months of 2016. The committee worked until late February putting all the plans in order. The Carolinas Clinical Connection was held March 29 thru 31, 2017 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Myrtle Beach, S. C. It was a successful meeting. We had 164 attendees, 29 CE sessions, and 13 vendors. The vendor appreciation reception was held on Wednesday night and was enjoyed by all. This meeting is held every year and is sponsored by North Carolina and South Carolina. Next year it will be in North Carolina. Watch the website for details.
Our national meeting this year will be held July 9-13, 2017 at the InterContinental at the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. This meeting is designed to update and expand your knowledge in the medical laboratory and medical assistant professions. It will provide an opportunity to get those continuing education credits you need to keep your certification current while providing for social and professional interaction. I encourage all of you to try to attend this meeting. Take your family and make it a vacation. If you have never been to a National Meeting you won’t regret going and you won’t want to miss the next one. As you meet the members for all over the United States and the Caribbean you will feel like a part of one big family. Everyone makes you feel right at home. Go early or stay a few days longer and enjoy all the Kansas City sites. Reservation “cut-off” date at the InterContinental is June 14, 2017. Please make your reservations for the AMT Convention early to make sure that get the discounted rate. Log in to americanmedtech.com to get all the details. I am planning to go the National Meeting again this year and hope to see some new faces.
I am encouraging all of you to get active in the South Carolina chapter of AMT. We need some new and young members to help us plan our state meetings and activities. If you are interested in being a part of the planning please contact anyone listed under leadership on the South Carolina website. Wishing you all a great summer and hope that you will consider attending the National Meeting.
