Planting the Seeds for a New Year
President's Message Spring 2017
Hello to all my fellow OSSAMT members. I would like to thank Christopher Williams for all the hard work and dedication he gave as state president the past 4 years.
OSSAMT has a very committed, hardworking board willing to serve work on many topics this year. We are looking forward to working with schools, employers, and communities across the state to grow awareness of the American Medical Technologists. It is goal to acknowledge the values of our disciplines in the workplaces and communities.
OSSAMT will continue to work in partnership with the American Kidney Fund. They do wonderful work on behalf of kidney patients and their families throughout the United States. I encourage each one of you to go to their website www.kidneyfund.org and register to become a Kidney Health Educator.
I hope to see many of you at our spring education seminar on 4/8/17 at the Sinclair Community College Campus in Mason, Ohio. Jeanne Marie deMontagnac-Hall has been working hard to provide excellent speakers for this event. Our fall meeting will be held in the Cleveland area in October.
I would like to encourage our OSSAMT members to write articles for our state journal. Did you know that you can receive CEUs for each article you write? You could write an article about a new piece of equipment in your work place, communication skills, education techniques for patients, new procedures in your work place, coding and billing issues, technologists, etc. The articles must be your own. Think about it and share.
Also, we like to acknowledge our OSSAMT member’s accomplishments every year with state awards. We have an Awards Committee that looks at the qualifications for submissions. If you feel you or someone you know is deserving of an OSSAMT award, please get in touch with me or Christopher Williams. We will make sure it reaches the Awards Committee chairperson.
OSSAMT will be hosting the 2018 Great Lakes District Conference in October 2018. The tentative dates are 10/5/18-10/6/18 in the West Chester, Ohio area. We are very excited to be hosting this conference. We will keep everyone informed as we move forward with our plans.
In closing, I want to thank OSSAMT members for the opportunity to serve as the OSSAMT president. I and the board look forward to working with you all to move our state forward. We hope to see everyone at the spring educational seminar. Also, the AMT national convention will be held in Kansas City, Kansas from 7/9/17-7/13/17.
