A new year is upon. I trust everyone had a joyous Holiday season and that we all will have a prosperous 2017.
The year is just beginning and we are busy making our plans for events in 2017. One of our most exciting events of the year is when we present our MNHSSAMT Scholarship check to a very deserving student in the field of Medical Laboratory Science. It is rewarding to present this Scholarship Check for $1000. Your Board of Directors made the decision to present two of these scholarships for 2017.
The next big event for us will be our Spring Business Meeting in April and we will be making delegate selections for the AMT National Meeting being held in July. The National Meeting is a wonderful way to network, has great educational opportunities, and become involved with AMT at a National level by being on one of the many committees that help the organization as a whole. And we can’t forget the wonderful travel experience to see a new place and get some sightseeing in between educational sessions, and committee meetings. I know the delegates all had a great time in Memphis, Tenn. last July.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Oct. 17th -19th, 2017 for the annual North East Laboratory educational at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, Me. This too is a great event for networking and obtaining some educational credits. The MNHSSAMT Fall Business meeting will be held on the 18th of Oct., and we hope to see some new faces. Please come join us and have dinner with us afterwards.
This fall we will be conducting Officer selections for the 2018 to 2020 term of office. We really would like to see more individuals become involved with the state society and help us keep it going for future generations of medical technologist, phlebotomist, RMA’s, ALI Health Instructors and Dental assistants.
You can become active by attending these business meetings, and when you have attended two consecutive meetings, you can be eligible for delegate selection to the AMT National Meeting. You can write articles for the MNHAMT Newsletter published in May and November. Send your articles to our Editor Laura Gilbert-Caret. We’d love to hear from you and we’d love to see some new faces at our meetings.
With warm regards
MT Pres. MNHSSAMT
