Welcome to the Florida State Society Website!

Message from the President:

Happy Holidays to all! As 2018 ends, Florida State Society American Technologists can celebrate a very successful year. The attendance to our Scientific/Educational meetings has been great. Our first meeting was in Orlando with 99 in attendance and in Fort Lauderdale it was 87. We had a great time at both meetings. Orlando was so successful that Keiser University formally invited us back in 2019 and we accepted their invitation. Our first meeting will be April 13, 2019 at the Keiser University Campus in Orlando and we are excited to plan a fantastic meeting and program for you.

Keiser University Fort Lauderdale has confirmed our date for the fall meeting. The Scientific/Educational meeting will be held there on November 9, 2019. Mark your calendar, save the date and watch for news blast for the details.

Our spring meeting will be an important meeting. We will be electing our delegates to go to Chicago for the 81st National Meeting on July 1st -July 5th. The criteria for being a Florida delegate are that you must have attended at least one business meeting in the past year (prior to the April meeting) and be a member in good standing. If you wish to be a delegate, please let me know. We will elect the delegates at the business meeting. We took 17 delegates last year to Washington DC and it was a great experience for all that went. We hope to take 25 this year and you are the members that can make that happen.

Every opportunity I get the chance to say this, I tell you that this is your organization and you make our society a successful one! Our new members need the information provided at our meetings and as a group we want to welcome the new members and share our experiences with them. We provide educational opportunities for the RMAs and the Medical Technologist that relate to their field and expand their knowledge. Coming to a scientific/ educational seminar is good way to keep up with your continuing education that is required to renew your certification or license. You can earn 6 hours of credit for a day of lectures and fun! We have shortened the hours and completing the day by 4:00 pm instead of 5:00 pm.

Watch for the news blast from FLSSAMT and do not miss the opportunity to attend the meetings.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions. I may not be able to answer all your questions, but I may be able to direct you to someone that can. Hope you have a holiday season filled with peace, love and joy.

My best,
Alice Macomber RN, RMA(AMT) RPT(AMT) AHI(AMT)
FLSSAMT President

Message from the Website Editor:

It is nearly Thanksgiving which brings to mind all the things for which I am grateful - the blessings of family and friends. I am also grateful for the fellowship of our Florida State Society. Our Board of Directors work hard to offer quality opportunities for networking and continuing education for its members.

An FLSSAMT meeting is one of the few opportunities to find multiple mandatory courses for licensure in one place. We endeavor to meet every mandatory subject each and every year, in addition to offering AMTIE accepted presentations of interest to all. Our Meeting in November was no exception. We had just under 100 attendees who enjoyed excellent presentations. After the keynote speaker, I doubt I will ever swim in a lake or stream again. Those who attended can relate!

It is wonderful to see so much participation at our meetings. And speaking of participation, we will be electing delegates to the AMT National meeting in Chicago July 1-5, 2019. If you have been to an AMT Convention, my guess is you are hooked! If you haven’t, join us and you too will long to attend every year. Remember to be eligible as an FLSSAMT delegate you must have attended at least one FLSSAMT Business meeting over the last 2 years in addition to the spring meeting election. Attending only the educational presentations does not meet the requirement. More details will be published before our Spring meeting
Speaking of our 2019 meetings, the desired dates and venues were approved by the BOD at the November Board meeting. Once we have those finalized an email blast will be sent to the membership.

Those of you who were affected by the latest Hurricanes, know you have not been forgotten. Stay strong a while longer. Hundreds of people are working hard to help. Those who were not affected, please take a moment to see how you can help those who so desperately need it. Extend your hand to help by donating time, much needed items, funds or just a willing ear to someone in need. Give a prayer for strength and healing. FLSSAMT is a family.

As always FLSSAMT, Stay Safe and Pay it Forward.
