Gateway Technical College grows its MA program and plans international studies program

Gateway Technical College laid the cornerstone of career training when Racine Continuation School began classes Nov. 3, 1911 as the first compulsory, publicly funded school not only in Wisconsin but also the first in the US.

Today, Gateway continues to flourish, and one of the fastest growing programs is medical assisting. Due to demand from local employers, a third program was added in January 2018. The most recent group is shown here and many graduated with job offers.

Students prepare to take the AMT exam to earn the certification credential of Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), which they can conveniently take at their campus that serves as a Pearson VUE testing site.

Future medical assisting students will enjoy a new opportunity in an international studies program. In 2019, Gateway will host a group of students from Germany, and in 2020 a group of MA students from Gateway will visit Hessen, Germany. During these exchanges, the international students will visit clinics and hospitals and participate in job shadowing.
