Greetings from Galax, VA!
I am honored to serve as the Virginia State Society of American Medical Technologists President for the next two years. VSSAMT welcomed me to the society in 1992. I have been fortunate to be a member of this board for 24 years. Most of that time was spent as Scientific Chair or State Treasurer. I have seen many changes in the society some of which are great, but there is one issue that concerns me. It is that most members are not involved in the society. You are needed!! Your voice needs to be heard for the sake of other Medical Technologists, Technicians, Medical Assistants and several other disciplines and for the future of the society. YOU CAN
make a difference.
Every member should consider attending the spring meeting in Salem, VA at the Comfort Suites at Ridgewood Farm.(see footnote) You should have received an email blast the last week of Feb. If you are interested in making a difference, please consider attending the board/business meetings. You are welcome! Because this is not a scientific meeting, there is no charge to attend. The Board meeting starts at 9am followed by the Business meeting. (Link to more information
Our fall meeting will be planned during the spring meeting. It will include the continuing education program or scientific portion of the state meeting. Please let me know in which part of the State you would most likely attend. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
. I want to hear from you.
Finally, remember the 79th Annual Educational Program and National Meeting will be July 9-13, 2017 in Kansas City Missouri at the Intercontinental Hotel at the Plaza. This meeting promises to offer lots of educational programs as well as an opportunity to sight see the Kansas City area. The delegates for the National AMT meeting representing VSSAMT will be elected at the spring meeting in Salem.
I look forward to working with all VSSAMT members. I will be happy to visit schools to encourage certification with AMT. If you would like a visit, please send me an email.
Happy Spring to all,
Anna Catron, MT (AMT) (HEW)
