This has been an exciting year. The 78th Educational Program and National Meeting was held in Memphis, Tennessee this year. It was held on July 17 – 21, 2016 at the Peabody Hotel. The “Peabody Ducks” are a huge draw for this Hotel. They are brought down from their house on the roof by elevator each morning to the lobby, paraded through the lobby to the fountain where they stay until 5pm. They are then paraded back to the elevator and back to their house on the roof for the night. Memphis is the largest city on the Mississippi River and is home to various types of American music including soul, blues, gospel, and rock n’ roll. Beale Street was two blocks from the hotel and is a center of dining, shopping, and entertainment.
The Welcome Party was held on Monday night with light refreshments, entertainment and door prizes. Elvis was in the building and entertained us all. It was a very enjoyable party. The educational programs were outstanding again this year with many selections to choose from. The Awards Banquet and Convocation was held on Tuesday night this year. A delicious meal was served and awards were given out. South Carolina had two award winners this year. Joyce Lybrand, MT received the GEM award and Tabitha Jordan, RMA received the Distinguished Achievement award and the Most Improved Publication award. We are very proud of them.
This was a very enjoyable event and we are looking forward to next year’s meeting. Mark your calendar for July 7-13, 2017 for the 79th Educational Program and National Meeting to be held in Kansas City, Missouri the city of fountains. Look for details on the website and make plans to attend.
Since the Carolinas Clinical Connection 2016 was cancelled this year, we join North Carolina for their Fall Focus. It was a great meeting and we enjoyed it very much. We are planning to have the Carolinas Clinical Connection 2017 in Myrtle Beach March 29-31, 2017. The hotel rates are $79 per night and we invite everyone to join us. Bring your family and make it a vacation. We look forward to seeing you there.
