It is a season of change. The leaves have turned color and are now “turning loose”. The November elections brought a wave of changes nationally and locally. Now is also the time for a change of leadership in your organization. I say YOUR organization, because the Oklahoma State Society of American Medical Technologists (OKSSAMT) is made up of members in good standing with AMT. There are no extra dues to pay. Paying your yearly registration fee to AMT grants you membership in OKSSAMT. To become involved, just come to the next planned meeting! Email OKSSAMT@ymail.com with questions and we will be happy to give you more information about becoming an active member. At the November 5th Business Meeting held in Sayre, Oklahoma, new officers were elected for the 2017-2018 term, which will begin January 1, 2017.

I have been honored to serve as President for the past 6 years. I am excited by the growth and development of these members who are ready and willing to take on an active role in the management of our state society.
In the coming year, OKSSAMT will be paying the testing and certification fees for 13 newly graduated students seeking AMT certification as Medical Laboratory Technicians. Helping students is one of the main goals we work toward. Please continue to support the Chris Christian Scholarship Fund by mailing donations to OKSSAMT Treasurer Lynn Dunlap, 115 Gambel Rd, Elk City, OK 73644. These funds help MLT graduates pay for their Certification testing and registration. We need good students who go on to become good techs! Let’s show them our support.
