Delegate Report - 73rd AMT Educational Program and National Meeting
What an awesome week we had in San Antonio, Texas! Congratulations to Texas for hosting this great National Convention.
Central District took home their fair share of awards. I want to congratulate all the award winners. You all are very deserving of your awards. I want each Central District member to begin preparing for the award convocation next year in Pittsburgh. If you qualify for an award begin the preparation now. Ask your state officers to nominate you and get the appropriate forms off the AMT website. Fill them out and get them sent in.
I am also very proud of all our first timers who attended the convention in San Antonio. I urge you to begin making plans to be second timers in Pittsburgh. I do hope all came away from convention with a “re-union” feeling and you are looking forward to getting together again in the years to come.
Now on to other topics covered at convention. Please be aware of how hard our employees are working in Chicago. The AMT website contains many great tools to assist each of you. All manuals are now available there. Many forms are now also accessible on the website.
After the business meeting we had election of officers. New officers of the Board of Directors and AMTIE are as follows:
Mary Burden and Jeff Lavender were re-elected to the board. Heather Herring was elected to the RMA opening.
The new Board officers are:
President: Mary Burden, Vice President: Everett Bloodworth, Secretary: Jeff Lavender, Treasure: Jan Sessor.
The new AMTIE officers:
President: Linda Jones, Vice President: Art Contiono, Secretary: Marty Hinkle, Treasure: David Yocom. The newly elected Trustee is Norma Durfee.
As I mentioned the 2013 meeting will be in Pittsburg, Pa., the dates are July 8th -12th. This is the first meeting that the Board has incorporated the four day meeting into, which will be Monday thru Thursday. The 2014 National Convention will return to the Great Lakes region. Sites being mulled over include Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago and some others.
Concluding I urge all member to attend their fall meetings in the respective states. Election of officers will occur at this time in many of your states. We need you to get
involved in your state. Why not run for an office? Your present officers will help you and be so glad when you step up to the plate. Be safe and be blessed.
Randy Swopes, MT(AMT)
